Compression fixes that by re-encoding those images and tidying the document structure around them, which is usually enough to get a file under an email limit without anything looking worse. You choose how hard to push, from a light pass that is hard to tell apart from the original to a strong one aimed at getting the size down. Text is never touched, so it stays sharp and searchable at every setting. This tool runs on our servers rather than in your browser, because the work is too heavy for a phone: your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed in an isolated sandbox with no network access, and deleted within two hours. Frequently asked questions
- Why does this one need a server?
- Compression re-encodes every image in the document. That is far more work than a browser can do comfortably on a phone, so it runs in an isolated sandbox on our side instead.
- How long do you keep my file?
- Both your upload and the result are deleted within two hours of the job finishing. Nothing is kept beyond that.
- Will the text get blurry?
- No. Text and vector graphics are left alone at every level. Only images are re-encoded.
- How much smaller will my file get?
- It depends entirely on what is inside. A scanned document full of photos can lose most of its size, while a PDF that is only text may barely shrink, because there was nothing heavy in it to begin with.
